Managing Your Hive Roster

The Hives page is where you track every colony in your operation. Each hive card shows current strength, mite levels, queen status, and inspection history.


Key features:

  • Strength ratings: Visual indicators from strong to critical based on population assessment
  • Mite status: Color-coded badges showing current mite load relative to threshold (green/yellow/red)
  • Inspection history: Timeline of inspections with notes and findings
  • Queen info: Current queen status, age, and marking color at a glance

    • Best practices:

  • Update hive status after every inspection visit
  • Log mite counts consistently using the same method for reliable trends
  • Record queen sightings to track laying patterns and performance
  • Use notes to record anything unusual — brood pattern, temperament, disease signs

    • Treatment threshold: The standard threshold is 3 mites per 300 bees (1% infestation). Hives above this threshold are flagged for treatment. Local conditions and bee genetics may warrant different thresholds — consult your local bee inspector.
